Italy: land of pasta, passion, and places you’ve seen on a thousand Pinterest boards. Whether you’re sipping Chianti in Tuscany, tossing a coin into the Trevi Fountain, or floating through Venice like the main character you are—this country delivers. And guess what? You’re finally planning your Italian adventure. First of all, congratulazioni! 🎉🍾

Now let’s make it fabulous.

✈️ Planning Your Italy Itinerary

Italy is looooong—literally. From the Alps in the north to the sun-soaked southern coast, this boot-shaped beauty stretches over 700 miles. Translation? You need a game plan before booking flights.

Here are a few itinerary styles to consider:

  • Start in the North and head South (Think Milan → Florence → Rome → Amalfi)

  • Flip it: South to North (Naples → Rome → Florence → Venice)

  • Rome as your hub and spin off into Tuscany or the coast

  • Stay North: Pisa, Florence, Venice, and Milan (hello, fashion week 🕶️)

  • Focus on the South: Rome down through Naples, Capri, and the Amalfi Coast

All. Solid. Choices. And guess what? I’ll be covering all of them. Because trying to create one perfect Italy itinerary?

Impossible. This country is just too rich, too historic, too scenic—and honestly, too fabulous.

Start your planning by narrowing your focus to the areas you’d like to explore. Italy is a loooong country and the south is very different from the north & the middle is (literally) everything in between! Here’s a quick glance at what you can find and where you can find it! 🍕

🎭 Northern Italy: Style & Scenery

  • Venice – Gondolas, canals, and timeless romance (even in the fog).

  • Milan – High fashion, design, and that iconic cathedral selfie.

  • Verona – Romeo & Juliet vibes with a side of history.

  • Turin – Underrated gem with Alpine views and killer chocolate.

🫒 Central Italy: Rome & Tuscany

  • Rome – The Eternal City, packed with ruins, art, and gelato on every corner.

  • Tuscany – Rolling hills, rustic villas, vineyards, and food that’ll ruin you for life.

  • Florence – Renaissance glory, art museums, and leather markets galore.

  • Pisa – Come for the tower, stay for the underrated charm.

    • The Vatican
    • The Colosseum
    • The Forum
    • The Spanish Steps

🛥️ Southern Italy: Coastlines & Chaos (The Good Kind)

  • Naples – Pizza’s birthplace, chaotic energy, and a jumping-off point for the south.

  • Pompeii – Ruins that feel like time travel (in sandals).

  • Capri – Chic AF, with cliffside views and limoncello on tap.

  • Amalfi Coast – Instagram dreams. Just don’t look at hotel prices before wine.

Sacré-Cœur

Sacré-Cœur Basilica, Montmartre

Also known as the Basilica of the Sacred Heart, this fabulous church is set high on the hills on Montmartre in Paris. If you can stop and tour inside, it is well worth the time. The interior is stunning and the massive pipe organ is unreal. Take a moment to stop and enjoy the views from the hilltop overlooking the city of lights. Fantastic!

The Ruins at Altun Ha - Belize

From areas of abject poverty and colonies of rickety wooden houses to the incredibly scenic areas of the rainforests, Belize is a country worth seeing. We took a day to head over to the ancient Mayan ruins at Altun Ha. What a trek! In the humid heat of the hot summer day, we encountered hills that were unexpected. The really cool thing about this site was that we were completely free to roam around and climb to the top of these ancient wonders! I thought they would all be fenced off, but nope! We found some stunning views from the peaks.  Fabulous day!
